What is integrative medicine?
Integrative Medicine is the future of medicine. It is the integration of the best therapies to address a certain health issue.
Every day our understanding of body, mind and disease deepens a little. What ancient wisdom already knew about health, we are confirming that with research. Healing always happens from within: Whether you use modern medicine or alternative medicine, ultimately it is the body that heals. Dr. BM Hegde, one of the pioneers of integrative medicine, said this one of his lectures, “All medicines are placebos, healing is truly facilitated from within by the body.”
Integrative medicine encompasses all modern and alternative healing techniques that can be used as a part of your healing journey. You can look at these different techniques like tools in a toolbox. You do not use every tool each time something is broken, but you still want all the tools to be available in case you need them at any point. One of the main problems with doctors and medical system today is that they do not encourage research and growth. When a doctor’s view is myopic, it’s hard to see beyond what is already known.
Integrative Medicine addresses the “Root cause” of your problems and gives long-lasting solutions rather than quick fixes. This is the key to reversing most of our modern diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, hypothyroid, auto-immune conditions, allergies, cancer, depression etc.
Why we fail in treating diseases?
Everyone is unique; so is every diseased individual. Every ancient medical philosophy believes in treating the individual and not the disease. If we see 10 people suffering from typhoid or diabetes, we can identify how differently it presents in each individual. When disease is unique, how can the treatment be standardized? Modern medicine, with its quick fix approach, sadly fails to recognize this individuality.
Why is integrative approach the best?
- Addressing the root cause
- Long-term solution
- Reversing chronic diseases
- Focused on creating health rather than treating the disease
